Bruckner - Symphony 8 - BRSO, Jansons


People presume that because Bruckner was socially awkward, he must have been musically so. This overlooks that musically he was one of the most well-trained and educated composer of the century. Anyone hearing this Mt Everest of symphonies, especially when it's as superbly played and magisterially interpreted as on the Jansons will only pity Bruckner's detractors. There are several great Bruckner 8th recordings, but this one takes its place among the very few at the summit.
